Hotels in the Afterlife

Vienna’s excellent Architekturzentrum will be hosting a new photography show, opening this Wednesday, April 24, called Sinai Hotels. With images by Sabine Haubitz and Stefanie Zoche of Haubitz+Zoche, the show looks at “the concrete skeletons of five-star hotel complexes” abandoned on Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula. They are resorts that never quite happened, then, with names like Sultan’s Palace and the Magic Life Imperial. This makes them “monuments to failed investment.”

David Byrne to tour with “electric gospel” album

David Byrne has completed a new album (of "electric gospel") for released before 2009 and has booked a North American tour on which he is planning to play at least 40 percent old Talking Heads material.

John Cleese visits Laughing Club in India

Actor John Cleese went to India to visit a doctor who has started a laughing club. The people meet each morning and do silly things to make each other laugh. Laughter has many health benefits, says the doctor.
